About this deal

I found the slogan on this box, Hifi Made Fun, kind of ironic because too me, the Fosi wasn’t really that much fun. I used the Fosi BT20A Pro with quite a few loudspeakers, including the Audience 1+1, Mobile Fidelity SourcePoint 10, ATC SCM-7, Role Kayak, Omega prototypes, and Sound Artist LS3/5As. All were in nearfield set-ups, but given the amount of headroom still remaining when I was listening at maximum levels, any of these couplings could deliver enough output for a small room setup as well. If you already own the original BTA20, you might be curious if you should upgrade to the new model. I would only suggest doing so if the below items are important to you…

The little BT20A had no trouble powering my NHT C3 speakers and had heaps of power to spare. As a result, the bass was full-bodied and tight (even with the tone set to neutral), the midrange was clear and the treble lively and detailed. Onkyo M-5010 is a simple, reliable and minimalistic solution for your sound system – stern and affordable. The BT20A Pro has two volume knob options: carrot orange or dark gray. It’s a little thing, but given that I have such a preference for the gray over the orange my review unit was equipped with, it’s obvious that little aesthetic things like this matter.Another pro is the overall power of the amplifier, which Fosi Audio lists at 100 watts per channel meaning this will easily power most speakers you can throw at it, from 8 ohms all the way down to 4 ohms. Bluetooth: Fosi Audio kindly sent me a pre-release version of the BT20A Pro a month or so ago and I have been swapping it around with a few other similar Class D amplifiers that I already have, specifically the other TPA3255 models I have the A07 and the A07 Pro. Fosi presented themselves with a bit of a challenge, as the BT20A Pro needs to beat the already impressive TB10D. Once again Fosi proved surprisingly capable at providing HiFi performance at a LoFi cost. It was immediately noticeable that the left and right channels had far superior separation, and not just by a little. The surround effect was far more immersive than on the TB10D during movies and music.

The Fosi Audio BT20A is ideal for anyone looking for a small and affordable speaker amplifier. As long as you’re expectations are realistic, there’s little chance of being disappointed. If you need an amp for a budget or secondary system and don’t want to spend a bundle, the BT20A is the perfect solution. At this price, you couldn’t ask for more.Well, I’ve spent the last month listening to this amp and have really wrestled with how to present this review as I think this amp might work for some people and others might find it rather boring. The signal to noise ratio of about 70 dB is a value we would like to recommend the manufacturer to work on. But, let’s talk about the definition of “fun” because maybe my idea of fun is different from Fosi’s and even yours.
