About this deal
Often I can pick up on that in advance from what's been said about the story, but I somehow missed it this time. The characters are likable, the plot twists were interesting and unlike many of these books which have endings that dissolve into frantic shoot out scenes, this one stayed suspenseful and readable to the end.
She’s not there on official business but on her own time, and the sheriff who’s known her most of her life isn’t happy about her presence.Tracy has never been totally convinced of House's guilt and has continued digging into the case in an effort to satisfy herself of the fact that justice either was or was not done. I also had the position of being very familiar with the characters so had immediate investment in them.
Tracy Crosswhite still looks over her shoulder in the direction of her sister's murder twenty years ago.
It also explores the ramifications that the discovery has on those residents who, while still alive today, were involved in the original investigation. Tracy Crosswhite, the victim’s older sister, is a sympathetic protagonist who joins the Seattle Police Department years later so she has better access to information and can track her sister’s killer. It examines how different people react when faced with a possible miscarriage of justice and a need to 'put things right'.
