I Am Sam is the compelling story of Sam Dawson (Sean Penn), a mentally-challenged father raising his daughter Lucy (Dakota Fanning) with the help of a unique group of friends. All I could do was take slow and deep breaths, trying desperately to come to grips with the overwhelming emotions coursing through my veins. This book gives you the feeling how hard it is for men to love your daughter but not be able to be a perfect father even willing to be. I knew deep down inside that if I didn't run, that I would never be able to walk into that portal any other way.
